Crows Nest Soft Drinks, Qld
Amazingly, Crows Nest Soft Drinks has been operating continuously since 1903! It has always been a family-owned business, currently by the 10th owners, Murray and Tanya Rosenberg. Gosh, we can remember back to a time when most small towns had their own ‘cordial’ factory – they were everywhere. Interestingly, Crows Nest Soft Drinks have a fantastic display of old bottles from a number of these old cordial factories, and we really enjoyed spotting some brands we fondly remembered.
There is currently a range of 15 traditional and 4 low sugar soft drink flavours making it very hard to choose, so we took away a number of bottles to try. We recommend them all, our favourites being Double Sarsaparilla and Portabello, both very old flavours.
There is also a huge range (over 30) of flavoured syrups for use in soda streams, milkshakes, coffee, cocktails, over ice cream, or simply as a cordial. What an interesting lot of flavours that include butterscotch, bubble gum, fruit tingle and watermelon. Joe was intrigued by the syrup named WTF (what’s that fruit) – very clever!
Joe had a tour of the factory which he really enjoyed, and we appreciate Tanya taking the time to show him around.
If you are visiting the Crows Nest area or travelling through, make sure you stop here and stock up on some traditional soft drinks and syrups.
