Gunnewin Soldier Settlement Memorial and Old Rail Siding, Maranoa Region, Qld
Now a rural locality found 16 kilometres south of Injune, Gunnewin was once a thriving small town that served the needs of returned soldier settlers who were part of the Mount Hutton Lands Soldier Settlement Scheme in the region. Muntapa Rail Tunnel, Qld
The Muntapa Rail Tunnel opened in 1913 and still is Queensland’s longest straight railway tunnel at a length of 287 metres. It is the only tunnel in Queensland, Australia that crosses between the inland and coastal sides of the Great Dividing Range.
