Moura, Qld – We Uncover Rich History and Mining Heritage

In the past, we’ve zipped past the small country town of Moura on our way to some other planned destination.  This time around, we stopped and stayed, and we are glad we did.

As with all country towns, there is often a lot to see – ask to a local, walk or drive around, and visit the information centre – you’ll soon have a few sight-seeing hours filled!

Moura’s Information Centre is a shiny new, fit for purpose museum, library and info hub all rolled into one.  The icing on the cake is definitely the friendly and helpful staff.  And just outside this building is the moving Moura Miners Memorial, with each section dedicated to an important story of Moura’s mining past.

There are some great little shops in Moura making this a perfect town to re-stock.  There are lots of murals to check out around the streets too.

There is donation camping at nearby Apex Park (about 3km west of town) right on the beautiful Dawson River.  We opted to stay in town at Moura Caravan Park, which was adequate for our needs, plus an easy walk to everything.
