The Palms National Park, near Cooyar, QLD
This small, but spectacular subtropical rainforest can be found about two hours’ drive north-west of Brisbane, or around 210km. From Toowoomba, it is about 100km to the north.
There is a spring-fed gully that winds its way through the national park, which is a bonus for the birds, frogs, bats and other wildlife that inhabit this space. The huge amount of palm debris on the ground creates safe habitats for many small creatures too.
Things you need to know:

- Picnic tables
- Grade 3 circuit walk, 650m or around 15 minutes
- No camping allowed here
- No other facilities
The drive to The Palms National Park from the country town of Yarraman winds its way via a narrow country road through Upper Yarraman with enjoyable views along the way. This drive takes less than 20 minutes. The drive from the township of Cooyar is even shorter.
The Palms National Park comprises an area of 73 hectares. The section that is open to visitors comprises 12.4 hectares and was first gazetted a national park in 1950. The parcels of land were gifted to the Queensland National Parks by Thomas Boldery. Boldery Park at the entrance is named after Thomas.
